Clerk to Governors

Grade E (SCP 7-12) (£14.13 to £15.37 per hour)

Actual salary dependent on experience.

Approximately 250 hours per year - paid on submission of timesheets

The Governing Body of Calcot Schools is seeking to appoint a Clerk to Governors.

This is a key administrative role which includes working with the headteacher and governors in the preparation and distribution of agendas and papers; attending and accurately recording meeting minutes; policy management; providing advice to governors on constitutional, procedural and legislative matters in accordance with relevant statutory guidance and policy; and providing general admin support to the Chair of Governors.

Successful candidates will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, be able to work independently and organise their own time whilst working to strict deadlines.

This role offers good flexibility with working hours and the ability to work from home. The majority of Full Governing Body and Committee meetings are held during school hours in the Junior school. Meetings may cluster in certain weeks of term. As the Clerk is generally home-based, access to the internet and strong IT skills are essential.  Due to the nature of this role, discretion and confidentiality are vital.

Ideally, you will have knowledge or experience of school governance or in a similar professional clerking role. However, if you have a strong background in administration and are keen to learn we would strongly encourage you to apply, even if you have no school governance knowledge, as training and development can be provided.

We warmly welcome visits to the school.

Please see the Recruitment Pack for more information on the role as well as the Job Description and Person Specification.
